Who I am

I went on my first international trip when I was 15 years old. My parents took my siblings and me to Hong Kong to visit our aunt and uncle, who had lived there while I was growing up. There was no dipping my toe into the pond—right away, I was on a 16-hour flight and immersed in a completely different culture. And immediately, I was sold. After experiencing Hong Kong, trying new foods, and seeing a different way of life, I knew I wanted travel to be a big part of mine.

Fast forward to now, and I travel as much as possible. I love exploring different destinations, and one of my favorite ways to do that is through food. Trying local cuisines is such a great way to immerse yourself in a new culture, and planning a bar crawl or pastry tour is a fun and easy way to see a city. My husband, Jon, wasn’t a big traveler before he met me, but now he’s happy to sign up for any trip I plan. The way to his heart is through food, so I always make sure our itineraries are packed with great food and drink stops. I’m quite sure this is why he married me.

We have a dog named Maggie, who we simply adore. We love traveling with her when possible, and you’ll often see her tagging along on our U.S. road trips.

I can’t say it enough: if there’s good food, we will travel there. We like to travel slowly and spend time in each destination to really get to know a place. One of the most gratifying feelings for me is being able to navigate a city without Google Maps by the end of a trip. We have a special place in our hearts for the UK—particularly Scotland, where we got married—but we also love discovering new destinations and have a travel bucket list as long as my arm.

I love experiencing new places—or revisiting well-loved ones—and writing about them so others might be inspired to visit too. The purpose of this site is to share my favorite destinations, restaurants, hotels, and overall travel tips to help others get out there and explore.
